Preventing Injuries In Jiu Jitsu

As we all know injuries can be major speed bumps in somebodies Jiu Jitsu journey and we want to prevent those the best we can. One of the best ways we can keep from getting hurt is making sure our bodies are warm and limber before grappling. You can do this by making sure you are moving around and stretching before the class even starts. Along with rolling about half speed your first round and gradually ramping up the intensity of your rolling from there. We also want to be vigilant in making sure we don’t crank on submissions too fast and too violently. Once we get an arm straight or a leg straight we want to slowly apply the pressure to finish instead of throwing our hips into the persons elbow or knee. As we talked about in the past blog post training partners are very valuable to your Jiu Jitsu journey and we want to keep them healthy and feeling good that way we get more quality training and we can push to that next level.
