Keep the match moving or stay on top until you get the finish?

This is an interesting topic because it can be very controversial at times. In Jiu-Jitsu there are many different approaches to training and depending on your current goals and what you are wanting to get better at you may half to alter the way you train. When training there are people that focus on the action of passing and sweeping so when they do pass the guard often times they let the other person get there guard back that way they can attempt to pass again these people or often regarded as “pass holes”. Training in this way can be very affective in developing your ability to fight positionally rather than focusing on submissions. This method of training isn’t always the best, for instance if you have a submission only super fight coming up and you are primarily focusing on passing and sweeping this will not be as applicable as focusing on finishing your training partner as fast and effectively as possible. But what can be involved with focusing on submissions is the catch and release method which we will talk about in our next blog post! Happy training and let us know what you thought on
