How to train with an older partner

It’s very important to know how to train with partners that are significantly older. Training partners that are older are typically more fragile and less flexible, as a result we have to train with consideration. If you are training with a 50-60 year old person it would be ill advised to stack pass through his guard or do a judo throw. Before we start grappling with older people we have to take into account how flexible the person is and how mobile the person is. That is why we commonly start on our knees when rolling with an older partner we want to avoid having to do an aggressive takedown possibly injuring our partner. When training we want to remember what positions we are forcing the person into and how those positions can potentially injure the person.
